Zoe Lucas
Zoe Lucas, born 1950 in Halifax, Canada, is president of the Sable Island Institute, which is dedicated to conservation. A self-taught scientist, she first came to Sable Island in 1974 as a member of a seal research team. Since 1982, Lucas has conducted research projects there on flora, fauna and pollution. She is the protagonist of the documentary film “Geographies of Solitude”, which premiered at the Berlinale in 2022. Lucas lives on Sable Island and in Halifax.
