Rafik Schami

Rafik Schami, born in Damascus in 1946, is a writer. His work has been translated into more than 20 languages. Rafik Schami has been a member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts since 2002. He has received many awards and honours, most recently the Nelly Sachs Prize (2007) and the Georg K. Glaser Prize (2011). Schami lives and works in Marnheim, Germany.
