Werner Bätzing

Werner Bätzing, born 1949, is a professor of cultural geography at the University of Erlangen. He has been researching, teaching and publishing on the topic of the Alps for 40 years. Bätzing is a scientific adviser to, and member of, international alpine organisations. His most recent books are Die Alpen, Das Verschwinden einer Kulturlandschaft (in English, The Alps: The Disappearance of a Cultural Landscape), published by WBG/Theiss, Darmstadt, in 2018, and Alpen (in English, Alps) published by C. H. Beck, Munich, in 2015.
