Ulrike Guérot

Ulrike Guérot, was born in 1964 and is a professor, political scientist and publisher. Since 2016 she is heading the Department of European Policy and Democracy Research at the Danube University Krems in Austria. She is also the founder and director of the Think Tank European Democracy Labs, with the aim of evaluating and renovating the European democracy. In the past she was recipient of the Henry-Kissinger-Scholarship of the American Council on Germany, associate partner of the Open Society Initiative for Europe and founding director of the Berlin office for the European Council on Foreign Relations. As awardee of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation as well as the German Academic Exchange Service, Guérot studied history and economics at the Sciences Po in Paris and in Cologne, Bonn, New York and Munster.

Together with the author Robert Menasse she is advocating in favour of the establishment of a European republic, the abolishment of national borders and the divestiture of European construction ground into the hands of displaced persons from all over the world. Her words and research are regularly published in international academic journals, news outlets and magazines. In the spring of 2019 the third edition of her book “Warum Europa eine Republik werden muss: eine politische Utopie” (“Why Europe must become a Republic! A Political Utopia”)(Piper, München) appeared in Germany.
