Rainer Bauböck

Rainer Bauböck is a migration researcher and teaches at the European University Institute as part of the Global Governance Programme of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies. As a corresponding member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and chair of the Academy’s Commission on Migration and Integration Research, his work has a wide impact in European academia. During the academic year 1018/19 he is senior visiting fellow at the Lichtenberg Kolleg of the University of Göttingen. In addition he co-directs the global citizenship observatory (globalcit), an online observatory on citizenship and voting rights. According to the wissenschaftszentrum für sozialforschung berlin his research focusses on normative political theory and comparative research on democratic citizenship, European integration, migration, nationalism and minority rights. Bauböck’s work is regularly released to the public by renowned publishing houses such as oxford university press, manchester university press and amsterdam university press. In 2019 his edited book “Debating European Citizenship” (springer, Cham) appeared.
