Dmitri Strozew

Dmitri Strotsev, born in Minsk in 1963, is considered one of the most important Russian-language poets in Belarus. He is an avant-garde poet, author and interpreter of songs, coordinator of cultural projects and festivals. He founded the publishing house Vinograd as well as the almanac and poetry series "Minsk School". On 21 October 2020, he was arrested for 13 days for taking part in peaceful demonstrations in Minsk. His arrest triggered a strong reaction in Belarusian and Russian literary circles: Thousands of posts were published on Facebook in solidarity with Strotsev. Dozens of articles were also written and a large number of poetry readings were organised in support of the poet.

KULTURAUSTAUSCH is the magazine for international perspectives. It is published quarterly and presents international cultural relations from fresh perspectives. We focus on people and regions that rarely feature in the German debate.

Renowned authors such as Serhij Zhadan, Fatou Diome, Liao Yiwu, Ibram X. Kendi or Gioconda Belli have their say, as do other voices from around the globe from Afghan women doctors to mine workers in Congo to racing drivers from Qatar.

KULTURAUSTAUSCH stands for diversity and close-up journalism. Published by ifa – Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations in partnership with ConBrio Verlag.
