Antony Anghie

Antony Anghie is Professor of International Law at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, USA. He received his Doctor of Juridical Science from Havard Law School and since has been Visiting Professor at the American University Cairo, Cornell, Harvard, the London School of Economics, and the University of Tokyo. He is also a member of the Executive Council of the Asian Society of International Law. Recently, in 2019, he was elected as a member of the Institut de Droit International (Institute of International Law), considered one of the most authoritative academies of international law. Anghies research interests include human rights; globalisation, colonialism and the history of public international law and third world approaches to international law (TWAIL). In his research he takes the view that traditional approaches to international law obfuscated the connection between international law and colonialism. His latest publication is an article in the melbourne journal of international law on “Race, self-determination and Australian empire” (Melbourne, 2018).
