Jane C. Desmond, born 1951 in Providence, Rhode Island, USA, is Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Human-Animal Studies Initiative at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is the author and editor of Displaying Death and Animating Life: Human-Animal Relations in Art, Science and Everyday Life (University of Chicago Press, 2016). Desmond lives in Champaign, Illinois.
