Andrej Kurkow

Andrey Kurkov, born 1961 in St. Petersburg, grew up in Kiev and writes in Russian. He is well known for the novel “Death and the Penguin”, which chronicles a writer and his penguin Mischa. The book was translated into 30 languages. In 2005 his sequel “Penguin Lost” was published. Kurkov has revisited his famous penguin for KULTURAUSTAUSCH in this short story “Captive in the Snow”. Andrey Kurkov is a freelance writer and works for radio and television.
