Costa Rica has submitted one of the most ambitious climate protection plans in the world. The country aims to reduce its CO2 emissions to zero by 2050. Only the Marshall Islands have the same goal, but lack any concrete plans. Among other things, Costa Rica wants to modernize its public transportation, promote renewable energies and expand its forest regions.
