The Brazilian state of Bahia is organising the first wholly vegetarian school districts. Instead of dishes with meat, over 30,000 children and youths are getting vegetarian meals for school lunch. The project is currently in its early stages but if it proves to have the hoped-for positive impact on health, then the idea gets traction elsewhere too. According to statistics, every third Brazilian child aged between five and nine years old is overweight.
